The Last War
Lasher originally hails from the Demon wastes of Karrnath where life is horrid, the ground is toxic, there is poisonous wind which scours the landscape, and volcanoes belch forth ash, flaming rock, and acidic rain. He was the result of a male tiefling member of the Carrion tribe raping a female human belonging to one of the lands barbarian tribes. Lasher was raised among this cannibal tribe until his juvenile state before he reached maturity and the humans felt too threatened by his intrinsic tiefling evilness and bloodlust and racial infernal wrath. Lasher banned from the tribe wandered the treacherous terrain of the wastelands stumbling upon many barbarian tribes including the Ghaash’ka la tribes of orcs which allowed him to gain skills and train in bluff and intimidation allowing him to use their resources until he left to continue his wandering into various regions of the wastes. Lasher came upon the capital and City of the Damned, Ashtakala which is made of basalt and brass and lurks in the center of a storm of black sand and razor-sharp stone shards. It is all an illusion that is maintained by the eldritch power that raised the city at the dawn of the world here and gained streetwise by successfully navigating through the lure of its eerie and tricky streets. Lasher was lured into the lore of the Age of Demons and started training as a warlock. He gained gained some of the ancients powers such as eldritch’s blast, dark spiral aura, warlock’s curse, and spiteful glamour. This was not enough for Lasher who wanted to be the best of warlocks so he ventured through unforgiving deserts of black sand dotted with ruins and oases filled with brackish water. Finding his father’s tribe, Carrion, Lasher settled among the fractured landscapes and fissures which offer glimpses down into rivers of lava and the tunnels of Khyber
Khyber is a place of hideous demons and elemental horrors. Lasher would now have to constantly escape the churning chaos far below while feeding on the numerous adventurers trying to tame the land. It is in Khyber that Gates of Shadowfell and feywild arise and disappear here without warning due to the weakened barriers by the fiendish magic. Eventually Lasher is totally consumed by the evil trapped beneath the land and eventually traveled through a crevice leading to Khyber and entered the tunnel into the pyramid of Ebon Flame which houses the giant wizard king Addis-Ro. Lasher was able to negotiate entrance past the unbreakable glass monolith by offering his warlock skills to serve as an intern for Addis-Ro. This became the most valuable adventure to date for he learned the vampiric embrace, shared agony, crown of stars, crackling fire, fiendish resilience, life siphon warlock powers from the wizard king. Under the king Lasher gained a lot but resented how his powers were being used for and the oppression which prevented him from advancing to a level of skills and power beyond where he was. Lasher wanted to be able to use his powers as he pleased and not under the command of someone else. Upon a routine scouting of the wastelands for victims to devour or bring back to Khyber to summon for their bidding, Lasher fled and did not return to Khyber. Upon his successful escape Lasher fled to the Shekting settlement of Feltering hot where he rested and planned his next move. Lasher chose to cross the Icehorn Mountains rather than chance the labyrinth. Deep woods where he next fed spending much time there practicing and refining his magical powers. He found some magical items, a Cape of the Monteback and Rod of the Shadow Walker, and a weapon including a Rod of the Shadowalker and obtained Leather Armor of Dark Majesty for protection. Here he stumbled across a a dire wolf, a creature of Dyrn the Corruptor’s who is one of the mightiest daelkyr and said to be responsible for the horrors that lurk in the deep woods. The dire wolf ready was to attack him but through his training in intimidation Lasher tamed the wolf and was able to transform him into a magical creature and linking the wolf to himself. Now Lasher had a familiar which was linked to him and able to aid him in providing additional protection. The war has been in place for many years but word of it has just reached Karrnath not to mention Lasher had been in the shadows of the waste land and depths of Khyber. Karrnath has chosen to play a passive/non-direct fighting role in the war and Lasher has no real concern for other nations in fact living open in Karrnath outside of the pull of the demon wastes is an adjustment enough for Lasher for he is not used to socializing in a civil manner and must restrain his intrinsic evil urges to pillage and kill. Lasher spends the next few years deep in the uninhabited areas by most humanoid creatures.
